OPMAS implementation at KVK Babhaleshwar

Under OPMAS project on Bt cotton two districts namely Ahmednagar and Aurangabad have been selected from June 2014 onwards and total eighteen villages four tehsils from these two districts have been identified for conducting the pest surveillance on Bt cotton

Staff appointed under OPMAS project –  For proper implementation of OPMAS, the Subject Matter Specialist (Plant Protection)  from KVK is the principalinvestigator and other staff of the project is as follows .

  • Project implementation
  • Collection of   baseline information from July 2014
  • Selection of 18 Bt cotton growing villages from two districts
  • Selection of two fixed plots in each village
  • Selection of 5 IPM farmers in each village
  • Weekly two visits on each plot by the concerned field assistant
  • Demonstration of IPM  inputs  in  each village
  • Recording of pest and beneficial  insect population data on the data sheet
  • Analyzing the pest data by PI once in a week
  • Weekly uploading the pest data on NCIPM website by DEO
  • Preparing the weekly advisory by PI for Bt cotton growers
  • Circulation of weekly advisories by the field assistants in each village through village advisory boards, farmers clubs, SHGs, IPM farmers
  • Circulation of weekly advisories to extension functionaries of state agricultural department
  • Broadcasting the weekly advisories through Community radio Station
  • Weekly advisories through Mobile SMS to the Bt cotton growers
  • Weekly roving survey by the SRF and monitoring the work of field assistants
  • Organizing the shivar pheri, field day, kisan mela on IPM plots
